Plovdiv Region

Plovdiv Region is located in the south-central part of Bulgaria. It includes parts of the Upper Thracian Lowland, the Rhodope Mountain, Sredna Gora and and the Balkan. Plovdiv region is the second largest district in Bulgaria, with a total area of 5973 sq. km., 18 municipalities, 212 populated places and 18 towns.

Plovdiv Region has well-developed infrastructure, land and air transport, high economic potential for development, favorable climate, protected areas, highly productive arable land, mineral waters and an extremely rich cultural heritage.

Plovdiv Region is characterized by a significant concentration of enterprises, many of which attract foreign investments, which are increasing steadily in the recent years.

The city of Plovdiv, capital city of Plovdiv Region, is one of the oldest living cities in the world. It was chosen to be the European Capital of Culture in 2019 along with the city of Matera, Italy.
