On the morning of August 14, H.E. Mrs. Musaeva Aktilek, the Kyrgyz Republic's Ambassador to China, visited Hainan and met with local officials from the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province.

Dai Zhen, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, met with Ambassador Musaeva to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Hainan and Kyrgyzstan in different sectors.

Dai welcomed Ambassador Musaeva and her delegation to Hainan. She highlighted that, against the backdrop of efforts to build a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future, economic and trade relations between Hainan and Kyrgyzstan have steadily expanded in recent years, supported by increasingly active people-to-people and local exchanges.

Recently, Sanya and Karakol in the Issyk-Kul Region signed a letter of intent to establish a sister-city relationship, laying a solid foundation for stronger ties and closer exchanges between Hainan and Kyrgyzstan.

Dai said Hainan is willing to further tap the potential for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan by utilizing the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) and key platforms such as the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) and the China (Hainan) International Winter Trade Fair for Tropical Agricultural Products (HNTATF). She hopes the two sides can strengthen practical collaboration in areas including agricultural trade, investment facilitation, tourism, and education, as well as establish free trade port (zone) partnerships.

Ambassador Musaeva noted that the Issyk-Kul Region and Hainan possess highly complementary tourism resources across different seasons. She mentioned that the signing of the sister-city letter of intent between Karakol and Sanya offers a valuable chance to enhance friendly relations and practical cooperation between the two regions.

She also expressed hope that both parties could explore and enhance collaboration in direct air connectivity, tourism, duty-free shopping, financial investment, and additional areas.

Both parties agreed to maintain regular communication and work together to transform their cooperation plans into concrete outcomes.

Representatives from the Department of Commerce of Hainan Province and the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development also attended the meeting.

This was Ambassador Musaeva's second official visit to Hainan since assuming office, having previously visited Sanya in January 2026.

Located in northeastern Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan covers an area of 199,900 square kilometers and is home to 7.4 million people. The country’s key natural resources are gold, antimony, tungsten, tin, mercury, uranium, and various rare metals. China stands as Kyrgyzstan's primary trading partner.
