On July 16 and 17, an Indonesian media delegation visited the Hainan Free Trade Port’s cities of Haikou and Danzhou, providing members with first-hand experience of the positive changes that have taken place since the province launched its island-wide special customs operations in December last year.

Teguh Santosa, president of the Indonesia Cyber Media Association, said, "For Indonesia, Hainan is the closest Chinese port," and that commodities traded between the two sides are creating many opportunities. He also noted how Hainan balances development with ecological protection, and commented on how he hopes to see deeper cooperation between Hainanese and Indonesian young people in terms of trade, the digital economy, and culture.
