On the morning of January 30, Wang Yunfei, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, led a delegation to visit the Royal Consulate General of Cambodia in Haikou. He held discussions with Iv Sokhom, the newly appointed Cambodian Consul General, exchanging views on further strengthening cooperation between Hainan and Cambodia against the backdrop of the island-wide special customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).

During the meeting, Wang first conveyed congratulations from Dai Zhen, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, to Consul General Sokhom on his assumption of office, along with festive greetings and Chinese New Year wishes to all staff of the consulate. He also expressed appreciation for the consulate’s longstanding efforts in promoting cooperation between Hainan and Cambodia.

Wang then briefed the Cambodian representatives on Hainan’s basic profile, the preferential policies of the Hainan FTP, and the province’s modern industrial system, and shared updates on the progress made since the launch of island-wide special customs operations on December 18, 2025. He noted that the policy dividends of the FTP continue to be unleashed, delivering encouraging results.

Highlighting that 2026 marks the first year of Hainan’s 15th Five-Year Plan, Wang stated that the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province stands ready to work closely with the Consulate General to further enhance cooperation between Hainan and Cambodia in areas such as education, people-to-people exchanges, trade and investment, and tourism. He expressed hope that both sides will achieve more tangible results, contributing to the development of an all-weather China–Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era and enriching the Diamond Hexagon cooperation framework.

Consul General Sokhom expressed his appreciation to the Hainan delegation for their visit and the province’s ongoing support of the Consulate General's activities. Reviewing the collaborations between the two sides in areas such as high-level exchanges, tourism, and cultural and educational exchanges, he expressed the Consulate General’s willingness to further strengthen communication with the provincial foreign affairs office to expand areas of cooperation.

He further stated that the Consulate General is ready to leverage the policy advantages of the Hainan FTP to deepen collaboration between Hainan and Cambodia across investment, trade, tourism, agriculture, education, and culture, and to translate these achievements into tangible benefits for the peoples of both sides.
