Jordan’s Ambassador to China, Hussam Al Husseini, is no stranger to Hainan. As an old friend of the island, he knows it well and holds a special affection for the province. On the eve of China’s National Day in 2024, he was invited to participate in the filming of Hainan TV’s program Ambassador’s Dinner Party. During his visit, Ambassador Al Husseini and his delegation toured Sanya, experiencing how modern technology and traditional culture merge in creative harmony within this tropical paradise.

Ambassador Al Husseini arrived in China in 2019 to take up his post as Jordan’s envoy. Having visited Hainan many times, he remarked with admiration: “Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly—beauty, business, friendship.” Speaking of his impressions of Sanya, he was generous with his praise and appreciation.

Recently, Jordan’s Ambassador to China, Hussam Al Husseini, was also invited to take part in a Hainan culture and tourism slogan survey. He selected three slogans that he felt best represented Hainan’s unique character:

   •   “Free Trade Port — where freedom flows with the ocean breeze.”

   •   “Where mountains meet seas — a wonder for the world to share.”

   •   “A garden of all seasons, a joyful Hainan.”

These slogans are not only poetic and evocative, but also invite endless imagination. They reflect the ambassador’s deep appreciation of Chinese culture, while at the same time showing us the unique charm of Hainan through the eyes of an international ambassador.

The ambassador did more than just vote to support Hainan—he also created a slogan of his own on the spot, offering a fresh perspective: “Hainan, an escape we all need.” Possible Chinese renderings include: ‌“海南，世界为你预留的心灵假期”、“海南，我们都需要的远方”.

This short yet powerful phrase not only conveys his personal fondness for Hainan, but also voices, from the standpoint of an international ambassador, the very qualities that make Hainan uniquely appealing as both a free trade port and a world-class holiday destination—a place that inspires longing from travelers across the globe.
