Feng Fei returns to Hainan After Visits to the UAE and Japan

Feng Fei, Secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, returned to Haikou on May 24 after leading a delegation from Hainan Province on friendly visits to the UAE and Japan from May 18 to May 24.

During the delegation's trip, Feng attended a total of 36 events, including high-level meetings, comprehensive promotions, economic and trade investment activities, sister-province exchanges, overseas Chinese community gatherings, and on-site tours. In an aim to thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, Feng acted on the important consensus reached between Xi Jinping and the leaders of the two countries, and followed on the spirit of Xi Jinping's important speech when listening to the work reports of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and the Hainan Provincial Government. He promoted the achievements and open policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), deepened and expanded friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with countries such as the UAE and Japan, serving China's overall national diplomatic strategy.

Feng Fei held a meeting with Mohammed Al Zarooni, Chairman of the World Free Zones Organization, in the UAE and witnessed the signing of agreements.

Hainan signed agreements with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the World Free Zones Organization, Dubai International Free Zone Authority, Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power,Japan's Mizuho Bank, and other organizations, covering cooperation in clean energy, warehousing and logistics, healthcare, and free trade zone (port) construction.

Feng Fei met with Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and Industry at the UAE Ministry of Economy.


Feng Fei paid a visit to Hiroshi Moriyama, the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan.

Feng Fei greeted representatives of overseas Chinese communities in Japan.


While in the UAE, Feng met with Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and Industry at the UAE Ministry of Economy, Omar Al Suwaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Ali M. Al-Khouri, Secretary-General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE and Chairman of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World, Mohammed Al Zarooni, Chairman of the World Free Zones Organization, and Gauri Singh, Deputy Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

In Japan, Feng met with Hiroshi Moriyama, Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, and held separate meetings with Tomoaki Hamada, Speaker of the Hyogo Prefectural Assembly, Kazunari Tanaka, Director-General of the Trade Policy Bureau of the Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Nobuhiko Sasaki, Chairman of the Japan-China Economic Association, and Hiroshi Takashima, Director of the Japan External Trade Organization. During discussions with representatives of relevant institutions, enterprises, and overseas Chinese communities in both countries, Feng expressed Hainan's desire to consolidate good cooperative relations with all parties, actively plan collaborative projects, and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.

Feng Fei attended the opening ceremony of Hainan Week of China Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka in Kansai, Japan.

In addition to meetings, Feng also attended and delivered speeches at the opening ceremony and plenary session of the UAE session of the 2025 World New Energy Vehicle Congress, the opening ceremony of Hainan Week of China Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka in Kansai, Japan, the opening ceremony of the Overseas Chinese Young Talents Roundtable, and the Hainan-Hyogo Enterprise Economic and Trade Exchange. He also toured relevant enterprises and projects. At the Hainan FTP promotion events held in Dubai and Tokyo, he introduced Hainan FTP’s preferential policies and industrial investment opportunities. He expressed hope that all parties would fully leverage the geographical, resource, and policy advantages of the Hainan FTP and share in new open opportunities.

Liang Hongzheng, Vice Chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, Li Qingshuang, Vice Chairperson of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), Zhang Yiming, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, Wu Jianghao, Chinese Ambassador to Japan, Ou Boqian, Chinese Consul General in Dubai, and Xue Jian, Chinese Consul General in Osaka, participated in related events.
