Thai Consul General in Guangzhou Visits Hainan
Mr. Kajtiti Wiwatwanont, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Guangzhou, led a delegation to visit Hainan from April 2 to 5. On the morning of April 2, Dai Zhen, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province, held a meeting with Mr. Kajtiti and his delegation. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on strengthening pragmatic cooperation between Hainan and Thailand in multiple fields.
Dai noted that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic relations. In February 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra reached a significant consensus during the Prime Minister’s state visit to China, setting the tone for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Dai went over the past exchanges between Hainan and Thailand, provided an update on the latest developments in the Hainan FTP (Free Trade Port), and highlighted preferential policies in trade, investment, and education. She suggested enhancing sister-city ties and expanding cooperation in tropical agriculture, modern services, education, tourism, commercial space exploration, satellite data, and clean energy industries. Additionally, she proposed using film and fine cuisine collaborations as cultural bridges, leveraging direct flight routes to facilitate people-to-people exchanges, and utilizing the CICPE (China International Consumer Products Expo) as a platform to strengthen economic and trade relations. She reaffirmed the Foreign Affairs Office’s commitment to working with the Royal Thai Consulate General in Guangzhou to advance practical cooperation in these fields.
Mr. Kajtiti offered high praise for the achievements of the Hainan FTP and its emerging industries. He expressed strong support for deeper cooperation between Thailand and Hainan, emphasizing the close historical and cultural ties between the two regions. He also stressed the Royal Thai Consulate General’s commitment to serving as a bridge to facilitate further collaboration in economy, trade, education, culture, and tourism.
Kajtiti Wiwatwanont was appointed as Thai Consul General in Guangzhou in December 2024, and this trip marked his first official visit to Hainan.
