On December 7, the Experience-Sharing Meeting of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) was held via video link.

Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE to China, delivered a speech at the meeting. He said that Hainan FTP has an international reputation. As an important node in the Belt and Road network, Hainan enjoys huge development potential with sound ecological environment, infrastructure, as well as geographical and policy advantages. He will continue to promote the win-win cooperation between the two sides.

Shen Danyang, Executive Vice Governor of Haian Province, attended the meeting. He pointed out that Hainan FTP is a major national strategy personally planned, arranged and promoted by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It is hoped that the meeting could enhance mutual understanding, and lead more UAE enterprises to participate in the building of Hainan FTP to achieve common development. 

The meeting focused on free trade port's practices in taxation, goods control and business environment. Both sides agreed that there is broad space for port, personnel and trade cooperation.

Statistics show that in 2021, the trade between Hainan and the UAE saw an explosive growth of 10 times that of 2020, in which Hainan's imports increased by 27.5 times.

Representatives of the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), DP World, Fujairah Free Zone Authority, and Fujairah Oil Industry Zone shared their experience online. Present were Hainan provincial departments in charge of free trade port, reform and development, foreign affairs, commerce, finance, transportation, taxation and customs, relevant cities, industrial parks, and enterprises.

The meeting was jointly organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province and the UAE Embassy in China.
