Wang Sheng attends Press Conference on the BFA Asia Poverty Reduction Report 2020

On December 15, at the invitation of the Secretariat of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA), Director-General Wang Sheng of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province attended the Press Conference on the BFA Asia Poverty Reduction Report 2020 held in Beijing and delivered a speech. This was the second time for BFA to release special reports on sustainable development. Themed by "Asia Poverty under Globalization Changes and Public Crises", the report summarizes the latest developments and challenges as well as achievements and experiences in Asia's poverty reduction. At the press conference, Ban Ki-moon, BFA Chairman delivered a video speech, Li Baodong, BFA Secretary-General introduced the report, and Li Xiaoyun, Head of the Report Expert Team and Lead Chair Professor of China Agricultural University gave an interpretation on the report.
 
 
On behalf of Hainan, the host province of BFA annual conference, Wang Sheng briefly introduced Hainan's efforts in poverty alleviation in recent years. Through a video that tells the poverty work of Bohou Village in Sanya City, Wang exemplified how the province implements General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statement of "whether Xiaokang -- a moderately prosperous society is realized or not, only the ordinary folks can tell", and shared Hainan's experience and achievements in building beautiful villages, promoting industrial integration and increasing farmers' income, which received warm response from the attendees.
 
 
Su Guoxia, Director-General of the General Affairs Department for the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Ambassador of Nepal to China, Sun Qixin, President of China Agricultural University, Qu Sixi, Country Director of the United Nations World Food Program, and Zhang Tongrong, Secretary of the CPC Wenchuan County Committee, also delivered remarks at the press conference. More than 100 people were present including representatives from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, diplomatic corps in China as well as domestic and foreign media.
