On June 3, Wang Sheng, Director-General of Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, met with the ten-member team composed of Hainan medical experts to support Bangladesh's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wang firstly expressed high respect and gratitude to the team. He said that the Chinese central government's decision to assign the task to Hainan demonstrated its full recognition of the province's anti-pandemic efforts and trust in Hainan medical staff. He hoped that the team would do their best to provide guidance, share experience and perform duties with good medical ethics and skills during their stay in Bangladesh.

Wang asked the team to observe the local laws and religious customs, and enhance self protection to better ensure their own health and safety. The provincial Foreign Affairs Office will work closely with relevant parties in support of the team, he added.

At the invitation of the Bangladeshi government, the medical expert team has arrived in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh on June 8. The team will provide consultations of pandemic control, patients treatment and laboratory tests, guide and train Bangladeshi medical professionals, and assist overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded enterprises and Chinese students there in combating the pandemic. This was the first time that a medical team from Hainan was sent overseas to help fight the pandemic.

The province also donated 30,000 disposable medical masks and other medical supplies, which have arrived in Bangladesh along with the team.
