On the morning of February 25, the medical supplies donated to Hainan by the central government of the Republic of Korea through its Consulate General in Guangzhou arrived in Haikou, capital city of Hainan Province. It was the first batch of medical supplies sent by a foreign central government since the province responded to the COVID-19 epidemic.

"The batch of medical supplies donated to Hainan by the government of the Republic of Korea, though a slightly small contribution to the battle against the epidemic, is filled with goodwill and affection of all Korean citizens," said Hong Sung-wook, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou, adding that the Korean government and citizens would work unitedly with China and Hainan to contain the spread of the epidemic.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Foreign Affairs Office of Hainan Province has kept close contact with foreign embassies and consulates in China on timely updates of the epidemic and information of foreign citizens in Hainan. Letters of condolence from diplomatic and consular missions have expressed appreciation for the decisive measures taken by the province to prevent and control the epidemic, and commitment to standing by Hainan to overcome the current challenges. On behalf of their central governments, embassies and consulates of the UK, Israel and Singapore also expressed willingness to offer supplies and financial assistance.
